Centre de nature montagnarde les flocons verts

The Sallanches Castle

Whether you come with a thirst for knowledge, curiosity or for a rainy day outing, the Mountain Nature Centre is a must-see, considered as the centre for learning and understanding the natural heritage of the Mont Blanc Mountain. The centre is located in the heart of the town of Sallanches, in a castle dating back to the 14th century.

Access

From the village of Les Flocons Verts it takes 30 minutes by car to reach Rubins Castle (Château des Rubins) in Sallanches. Instead of the A40, take the D1205 road (less km, the same amount of time).

Visit

Created in 1985 with the aim of enhancing the Alpine heritage, this centre has been modernized to become a fun and interactive exhibition space.

It is an ideal visit for the whole family and to keep under your hat in case of bad weather!

There is something for all tastes and ages: the little ones, the curious and even the most seasoned visitors! A visit not to be missed, similar to climbing a mountain with a discovery of your natural surroundings at each level. Visitors will find themselves immersed in the heart of the fauna, flora and glaciers, in sublime landscapes where human activities are not forgotten!

Investigate, explore, discover, learn and understand while having fun - the Mountain Centre awaits you!

What's new?

As part of the renovation project for the Centre's exhibitions, developments took place in the Rubins castle in the autumn of 2016.

The Centre invites visitors to explore the mountain environment in an innovative, fun and interactive way: ballad time of the last great ice age, take the most unexpected selfie, play a game on giant interactive table, 360° immersion in the mountain pasture... "The Mont Blanc Visitor Centre" has a new look for you to discover the geology, the formation of the Alps, the water, forest, pasture and mountain.

What do visitors say?

"The nature centre is a well put together museum. Everything is explained clearly, many interactive activities are offered. Many specimens of stuffed animals are seen at the end, very informative. The same place as the museum, the Rubins castle is worth a visit. Wednesdays and during school holidays lectures specifically tailored for young audiences are offered.

Really nice and not to be missed!”
